An honest look at what a high-end honeymoon actually costs: what drives the number, and how to spend it where it matters most.
The short answer
A tailor-made luxury honeymoon broadly runs from around US$1,000 to US$2,500 per person per day, which puts a classic two-week trip for two somewhere in the mid-to-high five figures, all in. The range is wide on purpose: destination, season and the level of privacy move it enormously.
A Maldives overwater villa in peak season and a Sri Lankan road trip in the green months can both be luxury honeymoons, at very different numbers.
What drives the number
Three things move it most: the destination and season, your accommodation, and how private you go. Festive and peak-summer weeks command the highest rates; overwater and private-pool villas cost a great deal more than beautiful garden rooms; and private guides, transfers and boats add up, but are often exactly what makes a honeymoon feel like one.
Long-haul flights and any private charters or seaplanes sit on top, and are worth understanding upfront.
Where to spend, where to save
Our advice is almost always to spend on the moments and economise on the in-between. One or two truly special nights (a sandbank dinner, an overwater finish) outshine a fortnight of uniform luxury, and cost less. Travelling a week either side of peak season can lower rates markedly without dimming the trip.
Choosing a destination with gentle underlying costs, like Vietnam or Sri Lanka, also stretches a honeymoon budget further than the classic names.

What you are paying for
Beyond the rooms and flights, the cost buys privacy, time and the absence of friction: a concierge holding every detail so the two of you never have to think about logistics on the one trip where you most want to be present.
We do not pad, and we will always tell you which part of the number you are paying for. Tell us your budget and your dates, and we will show you honestly what they can buy.

Frequently asked
How much does a luxury honeymoon cost?
Broadly US$1,000–US$2,500 per person per day for a tailor-made trip, putting a two-week honeymoon for two in the mid-to-high five figures. Destination, season and privacy move it significantly.
What makes a honeymoon more expensive?
Peak season, overwater or private-pool villas, and a high level of privacy (private guides, transfers, boats and charters). Long-haul flights and seaplanes add on top.
How can we get the best value?
Spend on a few special moments and economise in between, travel just either side of peak season, and consider gentler-cost destinations like Vietnam or Sri Lanka, which stretch the budget further.
Is a Maldives honeymoon worth the cost?
For couples who want pure, private rest, yes, but it is one of the pricier options. We often place it as the short, perfect finish to a longer, gentler-cost first week.
